Fittest Team In Ireland Challenge
32 Teams from around the country will compete in a raft of exciting events, obstacle courses and head-to-head events to be crowned Ireland’s Fittest Team. Win a share of the €10,000 Giveaway Prize.

Emo GAA is proud to announce Shine 2023
Athletes from all over Ireland will compete for team glory and a share in the prize pot of €10,000
Shine will be one of the greatest athletic events in Ireland this summer. 32 teams from all across Ireland will come to Emo, Co. Laois and compete in a series of obstacle courses and head to head events.
Team’s from different sporting backgrounds including GAA, basketball, soccer, athletics, and swimming and also from Schools, Colleges and Businesses will battle it out in front of 5,000 spectators. Only one Team can earn the crown of Ireland’s Fittest Team.
The team will be made up of 6 athletes. Each event requires 4 athletes to participate, with a minimum of one female member in each event. Subs will be used as per rules for use of Subs.

How to Register your Team

Step 2
Fill out the short form online to Register Interest in Shine 2023. Complete a short questionnaire with team details and we will respond to you shortly.
We will make contact with payment options if you are happy to proceed, and once received you are registered. Get your team ready and spread the word.
Shine 2023 Programme
Phase 1 Qualifier
Teams will be assigned to groups based on our live team draw on May 6 th at 2pm Each team will compete in two sessions. There will be a 90-minute break between each session for each group. The best four performing teams from each group over the two sessions will progress to the semi-final of the competition.
Sixteen teams will go through to the semi-final, sixteen teams will be eliminated.
Phase 2 Semi-Final
The remaining 16 teams will be separated into two final groups by open draw at 1:15pm on the day. Each group of eight will compete in a new range of tasks. The top four team in each group will progress to the final.
The remaining eight teams will be eliminated.
Phase 3 GRAND FINAL
The remaining eight teams will compete for the overall title. A draw will take place at 4pm for lane position. First team to complete the course will be crowned “ Ireland’s Fittest Club”.
The second and third team home will be awarded 2 nd and 3 rd place in the competition.
Phase 4 Winners Presentation
Presentation will take place at 5pm on the day.

Emo Court is a quintessential neo-classical mansion. This magnificent Estate and its Gardens is a popular tourist attraction all year round and is under the care of the OPW. The gardens are a model of neo-classical landscape design, with formal lawns, a lake and woodland walks just waiting to be explored. On the day, the events will take place across the lawns with spectacular views throughout. There will be plenty of parking and lots to do and see for the spectators.

Shine 2023 will also showcase some of the best of what Laois has to offer. We are partnering with Laois Chamber of Commerce and other local organisations to bring a great array of products and services that’s on offer in Laois. With up to 5,000 visitors expected on the day, this is a great opportunity for Laois business to have direct contact with their customers who in turn can taste, feel, understand and purchase the wonderful products and services that Laois companies produce. Emo Court Estate will provide the setting for our trade show and with Free entry on the day, this promises to be a fun, enjoyable family day out which will certainly bring many benefits to the companies exhibiting.
